Eldad Ben Aharon
Dr Eldad Ben Aharon is a Senior Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt. He will be a visiting scholar at New York University during the spring 2026 semester.
Dr Ben Aharon’s research focuses on the intersection of security, identity, and memory, informed by securitisation theory, foreign policy analysis, and oral history. He has published extensively on these topics. During Dr Ben Aharon’s visiting fellowship at NYU, he will finalise the manuscript of his second book, Israel’s Memory Politics and the Armenian Genocide (forthcoming, Amsterdam University Press, 2027). Dr Ben Aharon’s first book, Israeli-Turkish Relations at the End of the Cold War: The Geopolitics of Denying the Armenian Genocide (Edinburgh University Press, November 2025), pulls back the curtain on the pivotal 1980s, exposing a period of clandestine diplomacy, strategic bargaining, and calculated international memory trade-offs that deepened ties with Ankara behind the scenes. This book will also be presented in a public event at NYU on April 21, 2026.
